Bones

This book speaks to a family of Asian decent dealing with the bias of there community and the older daughter acting as the care taker for the family. The older daughter also act as a missionary for the community.
This view give a more up to date look of some of the obstacle they face in modern times that are some of the problems in older times. Leon even with his odd ways attempts to keep the family together. Mah seem to be preoccupied with her on grief and very much in trench with the old way of thinking of her country. Is this why they can not come to her and inform her when they the children get married? The book is call bones because people all way have a bone to pick with others.

I think its actualy nice how the daughter continues to vist and look after her step father even though he and her mother are no longer together.
Also I disagree when some people seemed to think it was disrespctful for her to judge her mother and her relationships with her father and step father. Unless you grew up in the Brady bunch household children are always exsposed to thier family's problems and a child can usaly tell when their parents have a less then perfect relationship and are usaly the first complaned to by the parents about the spuce when something happends. She was not judgeing her mother so much as stateing the facts as she most likely saw them growing up.

I feel that the way she expressed her feelings about her mother in the book made people in class feel that she was disrespectful to her parents. Also, there was criticism in class on how much she hated her job as being a missionary. I feel that she took up that job so that the children wouldn't be put in the same position that she was put as a child. She was always translating for her parents which she seemed to hate. It probably put a lot of pressure onto her as a little girl. So, i feel that she became a missionary to make sure kids don't go through the pressure she went through.
